From the Desk of The Chief Executive

Mrs. Kavita C. Das

Chief Executive of G.D. Goenka Public School, Mohali

In a world that is steadily becoming more violent, intolerant, critical, callous and indifferent, it is imperative that schools become safe spaces of learning, where children grow up with acceptance, love, compassion and kindness. Why? Because tomorrow depends on who they become.

It is in schools that the foundations of the future are laid. Bringing up children with a firm belief in their own potential and goodness, teaching them the skills that will permit them to become contributing members of any society, helping them identify and develop their personal gifts and equipping them with the ability to be as creative as possible….in this lies the seeds of hope.

Of what use is a competent academic, when he or she has no idea of how to be happy and compassionate? Is it not more important that our children grow holistically rather than uni-dimensionally? Increasingly we find that the young ones of today are prone to depression, anxiety, dislocation and many more issues. The stresses and strains of the modern world as well as the spiraling loneliness of people has led to much of this. It is therefore vital that schools step into the breach and attempt to stem this tide of desolation by becoming havens of positivity, companionship and learning.

This is precisely what our school aspires to do. By giving our young ones an inherent confidence in their own uniqueness and by shoring this up with an abiding spirituality that will give them strength and hope in times of trial, we believe that we will create citizens of tomorrow who will make the world a better place. Children who believe in themselves, who walk with their heads held high, who are capable of reaching out to others and lending a helping hand, whose strong value system will enable them to choose wisely and well, are the youth who will not only be successful, but will also heal our world.

Isn’t that something worth aspiring to?

Warm regards,
Mrs. Kavita C. Das
